Amor Ministries
A redesigned WordPress website, with hosting and ongoing support, for a nonprofit that builds homes alongside families in Mexico and South Africa.
Amor Ministries has its roots in an orphanage in Mexico, where Gayla Cooper moved to work full-time and Scott Congdon, who had visited with a college service group, began bringing the children food and clothing from home. The two shared a dream of ministering alongside the poor in Mexico, and in March 1980 they founded Amor, a name that means love. Children whose families couldn’t afford to provide for their basic needs were being sent to live in orphanages, so Amor began building homes to keep more families together. They believe God has called them to this work, and they have since built more than 20,000 homes alongside over 390,000 trip participants. Amor now works in Mexico, South Africa, and other nations. Wherever they build, local pastors choose who receives each home, and volunteers on Amor trips work alongside the people who will live there.
Website Design
To welcome volunteers and donors into Amor’s work, we designed a custom WordPress theme for Amor Ministries’ new website, starting from the vision for the ministry they shared with us. With sections we created for the theme, Amor’s team can put together new pages and share families’ stories of receiving a new home. Anyone thinking of coming on a trip can find one that fits them, schedule a call with a Trip Coordinator, and register and pay for it online. Donors can give once or every month, sponsor a house, or support a member of Amor’s staff.
Website Hosting & Maintenance
Amor Ministries’ staff work with us on new features for their website, and we provide its hosting as well. We handle the WordPress updates and security, keep watch over the site day and night, and make sure it’s backed up every month. For years now, we’ve been refining the forms where donors give and trip participants make their payments.
