A custom WooCommerce storefront for the manufacturer of the pitching toe guard worn by hundreds of MLB players and specified by the top five athletic shoe brands.
Founded in 1991, Hurler Athletic is a Corvallis, Oregon–based manufacturer of custom protective shoe guards for athletes. Hundreds of MLB players wear Hurler’s ProtecToe® pitching toe guard, and the top five athletic shoe brands — Nike, Adidas, Mizuno, Under Armour, and New Balance — specify it for Major and Minor League Baseball pitchers. Hurler applies each guard to the customer’s own cleats, with coverage chosen to suit the way the shoe wears, from an extended hot spot to a full front cap. Beyond baseball and softball, their guards also protect football and soccer cleats, skating footwear, and work boots, including those worn by first responders.
Website Design
The custom WooCommerce store we designed and built for Hurler Athletic lets athletes and teams across the country order the guards Hurler crafts for their shoes. Customers order online and then mail in their own cleats, so we built an order form that walks them through each decision. They can pick their coverage or outline their own, choose a toe color, and add notes or photos of how their shoes wear. The form keeps a running total as they go, and the quantity discount comes off automatically, so customers see their final cost before they place their order. We guided the Hurler team through every step of the build. Each order reaches them with all of those details attached, so they have what they need when the shoes arrive.
Website Hosting & Maintenance
Hurler Athletic hosts their store with us, where it’s monitored at all times and backed up each month, and they can ask us about checkout, an order, or anything else on the site. We run the WordPress, WooCommerce, and plugin updates and tend to the store’s speed and security, so the Hurler team can keep their attention on the athletes who order from them.
