Marion Soil and Water Conservation District
A custom WordPress website for one of Oregon's 45 Conservation Districts, serving Marion County landowners, farmers, and conservation partners.
Marion Soil and Water Conservation District grew out of three conservation districts organized in Marion County between 1947 and 1953 to work on problems like flood control and riverbank stabilization. In 1971, the three districts consolidated to form Marion SWCD. Today they are one of 45 Conservation Districts in Oregon, based in Stayton and working with urban and rural property owners, public agencies, and private organizations to conserve natural resources across the county. The district has an independent governing board with seven elected director positions. Marion SWCD’s mission is to protect, conserve and improve the quality of soil and water in Marion County through planning, technical assistance, and education.
Website Design
Whether they’re farmers or woodland managers, teachers or students, or gardeners in town, visitors to the custom WordPress website we designed for Marion Soil and Water Conservation District can choose their group from the “Who You Are” menu and see the many programs and resources the district offers them. For Marion SWCD’s native plant sales, we built a WooCommerce store that draws on the same Plant Database anyone can browse all year, so shoppers can filter by sun, soil, and habitat and pick out plants that suit their own property. The district’s staff can print every order still to be filled in one step, so everything is ready when customers arrive on pickup day. We maintain the district’s website to this day, improving it as we go.
