Stahlbush Island Farms
A WordPress website and online store for a 5,000-acre Willamette Valley farm and food processor that sells frozen fruits, vegetables, and grains.
Bill and Karla Chambers started Stahlbush Island Farms in 1985 with two crops and about 300 acres. Today Stahlbush, based in Corvallis, cultivates 5,000 acres of Willamette Valley farmland and specializes in individually quick-frozen foods and purees. Home cooks buy them online and at grocers such as Whole Foods Market, Safeway, and Market of Choice, and food companies around the world use Stahlbush purees in soups, baby foods, and even ice cream. In 2009, the farm built a biogas plant that generates electricity from by-products such as corn husks and cobs, and what is left over goes back onto the fields as fertilizer. Bill and Karla have passed their dedication to the land on to their children, who will one day take over the farm.
Website Design
We fully revamped Stahlbush Island Farms’ website, designing a custom WordPress theme with their WooCommerce store built in, so home cooks can order the farm’s own frozen fruits and vegetables and read how it all began. Orders of their 10-ounce bags start at 16, and we set up the cart to count each of them toward that number, in whatever mix a shopper chooses. The Stahlbush team posts new recipes themselves, and each one can link to the website or Instagram of the cook who shared it.
Website Hosting & Maintenance
Stahlbush Island Farms found us while looking to support other local businesses, and we have worked with them ever since. That work includes hosting their website, which we monitor 24/7 and keep secure by applying every update to its software, from WordPress and WooCommerce to each plugin. When something on the site needs fixing, or their team has a new idea for it, we see it through.
