Corvallis School District (CSD 509J) is a public K–12 school district serving more than 6,000 students across 14 schools in Corvallis and the surrounding Benton County area. We’ve been their web partner for several years, supporting the district website as a central communication hub for staff, families, and the broader community.
Website Design
We provided strategic guidance and full development of the Corvallis School District website, working directly with the district’s communications coordinator throughout. The design serves multiple distinct audiences — parents looking for school information, current students, district staff, and community members — each with different needs and different entry points into the site. The most important constraint was content management: the district’s communications team needed to maintain pages, calendars, announcements, and emergency communications without involving a developer. The result is a CMS workflow that non-technical staff can run day-to-day, with our team supporting bigger structural changes as the district’s needs evolve.
Website Hosting & Maintenance
We host and maintain the Corvallis School District website on our managed WordPress infrastructure. The plan includes daily backups, security hardening, ongoing WordPress and plugin updates, monitoring, and direct support — important for a public agency that has to be online and accessible at all times, including during emergency communications.
Logo Design & Branding
We designed the Corvallis School District identity to reflect both the district’s institutional authority and its deep connection to the Corvallis community. The mark is a circular seal featuring a four-quadrant shield — a globe representing global perspective, an open book representing learning, a winding river and treeline evoking the Willamette Valley landscape, and a stand of evergreens grounding the district in its Oregon setting. The seal is ringed by “Corvallis School District · Oregon” in a classic institutional format that conveys permanence and public trust. Paired with a clean, modern sans-serif wordmark, the identity balances the gravitas a public school district needs with a contemporary openness that reflects the district’s commitment to accessibility and community engagement. The system is built to work across digital and print — website headers, letterhead, signage, athletic materials, school-level sub-brands, and district communications — at any size and in single-color, full-color, and reversed treatments.
