Boys and Girls Club of Corvallis
A custom WordPress website for a youth development nonprofit serving kids and teens across Corvallis and the Mid-Willamette Valley.
Since 1975, the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis has offered programs for kids and teens in Corvallis and the surrounding area. After school, kindergartners come to Club Plus, first through sixth graders to the Clubhouse, and seventh through twelfth graders to the Johnson Teen Center. The Club also runs after-school programs at local elementary schools, youth sports, and summer camp, and serves a daily meal. Together with Benton County Health, the Club offers dental care for youth at the Johnson Dental Clinic, which opened inside the Clubhouse in 2008 thanks to the vision and volunteer work of Dr. Ken Johnson. A nonprofit funded mostly by local donations, they work in partnership with families and the community to provide young people with caring mentors and help prepare them for success in school, career, and life.
Website Design
We love what Boys & Girls Clubs are doing across the country to create a safe space for kids to thrive, so we were glad when our local club, the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis, reached out for help with a redesign. Together with the Club’s team, we crafted a new WordPress site for the families they serve, and for the donors and volunteers who want to support the Club. The Club’s staff can put events, news, and announcements on the site as they come up, and for each program and sport, they can mark registration as open or closed. A Register button appears only while registration is open, so families know right away whether they can sign up.
Website Hosting & Maintenance
We’ve worked with the Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis since 2021, and we host their website. Our monitoring keeps watch on it without a break, we update WordPress and the site’s plugins, and we save monthly backups. We’re still building on the site, too, and in 2023 we gave every page a Translate menu, where families can have it translated into Spanish or one of ten other languages.
