Why Abide for SEO

Why Abide for SEO

Most agency SEO is one of two things: a retainer-based service tacked onto a site someone else built (where the SEO consultant fights the developer's choices), or a developer's afterthought (where SEO is treated as a final-week checklist item). Neither produces strong outcomes. We approach it differently.

SEO is built in, not bolted on

Every site we ship has SEO architecture as part of the foundation: schema markup, optimized URL structure, performance tuning, internal linking, and structured data tuned for both Google's traditional search and AI Mode. This isn't a separate scope or an upcharge — it's how we build. The result is that our clients don't need expensive retainer SEO work to climb in rankings. The foundation does most of the work.

We know WordPress and WooCommerce inside and out

Most SEO agencies are platform-agnostic, which means they don't know any platform deeply. They give generic advice that doesn't account for how WordPress's URL handling, schema generation, or performance characteristics actually work. We've built and tuned hundreds of WordPress and WooCommerce sites — we know which plugins help, which hurt, and what schema patterns work for which content types.

AI Mode and AI Overview optimization, done properly

Google's AI Mode rollout fundamentally changed what good SEO looks like. AI Mode rewards entity-graph work (Organization, Person, Service schemas with stable @id references), structured content (summary boxes, FAQPage schema), and verifiable authority signals. Most SEO agencies are still optimizing for 2020-era ranking factors. We've built our own site as a working example of AI-era SEO architecture and apply the same patterns to client sites.

Honest about what we do and don't offer

We're not a retainer-based SEO agency. We don't run monthly content production at scale, we don't do link-building campaigns, and we don't promise specific ranking results in specific timeframes. What we do well: build sites whose SEO foundations are genuinely strong, audit and improve existing sites' technical SEO, and implement schema and AI-Mode optimization at a level most agencies can't match.

Our honest take

If you’re getting a new site built (or have an existing site that needs SEO architecture brought up to modern standards), built-in SEO is almost always the right answer — the work compounds over years rather than being paid for every month. If you’re already in a highly competitive content market where rankings depend on weekly content production and link acquisition, a retainer agency is genuinely the right tool. We’ll be honest about which fits when we talk.

How it works

How SEO foundations get built into your site.

For new builds, the SEO foundations happen alongside the design and development work — not as a separate phase afterward. Here's how it unfolds.

Week 1

SEO Audit and Strategy

We start with a baseline audit: what your existing site does well, what query opportunities you're missing, what competitors are ranking for, and what the content gap looks like. The audit produces a documented SEO strategy that gets folded into the project scope — content patterns, schema priorities, performance targets, URL architecture decisions.

Weeks 1–2

Information Architecture and URL Strategy

We design the URL structure, navigation, and content architecture around how your audiences actually search. URLs are clean and semantic. Internal linking is planned, not accidental. Breadcrumbs reflect logical hierarchies. Content is organized into pillar-and-cluster patterns where it makes sense.

Weeks 3–5

Schema Markup and Structured Data

We deploy the full schema architecture: Organization, Service, FAQPage, ItemList, Person, AggregateRating, and any e-commerce-specific schemas (Product, Offer, Review). Stable @id references unify the entity graph. AI Mode and Knowledge Graph indexing both benefit from this foundation.

Weeks 4–6

Performance and Core Web Vitals

We tune the site for performance from day one: caching strategy, image optimization, lazy loading, CDN, database query optimization, and asset minification. Target page load times under 2 seconds on desktop, under 3 seconds on mobile. Lighthouse scores in the 90s across the board.

Week 6 onward

Launch and Monitoring

We launch with Google Search Console and Analytics 4 already configured, sitemap submitted, schema verified via Rich Results Test, and Yoast SEO Premium tuned. After launch, we monitor GSC for indexing issues and ranking shifts. Ongoing optimization happens as needed, billed hourly or as scoped projects.

FAQ

SEO services FAQ

Not as a primary service. We focus on building SEO foundations into every WordPress and WooCommerce site we ship — that's where most of the long-term value comes from. We do take on ongoing SEO work for clients who want it, billed hourly or as scoped projects rather than monthly retainers. For organizations needing aggressive content production, link building, or competitive ongoing SEO at scale, we'll recommend specialist retainer agencies who do that work properly.

Google AI Mode and AI Overviews now appear on a growing share of search queries and preferentially cite sources with strong entity signals — comprehensive schema markup, structured content, verifiable authority. AI-era SEO requires entity-graph work, summary blocks, FAQPage schema, Person schemas tied to real expertise, and content structured for AI citation. Most SEO agencies haven't caught up to this yet. We build sites with AI Mode optimization as a default, not an upgrade.

Yes. Our Technical SEO Audit ($1,500–$3,500 depending on site size and complexity) covers full structured data review, performance assessment, internal linking analysis, content gap analysis, and a written remediation plan with prioritized actions. You can act on the audit yourself, hire us to implement, or use it to brief a different agency. The audit is deliverable-driven — no retainer commitment required.

Yes. Our Schema Architecture Engagement ($2,500–$5,000) is purpose-built for this — bringing structured data, performance, and entity-graph work on an existing site up to modern AI-era standards. We can also do partial improvements (just schema, just performance, just summary blocks) on hourly or scoped engagements. The work is most impactful when your underlying site is technically sound; if the foundation is broken, we'll be honest about what's achievable.

For new builds with strong foundations, organic search improvements typically start appearing within 4–8 weeks of launch as Google reindexes. Significant ranking gains for competitive queries take 3–6 months. For existing sites getting schema and AI-mode optimization work, results compound over similar timeframes. We'll be honest about expected outcomes when we scope work — we don't promise specific rankings in specific timeframes, because anyone who does is overstating their certainty.

Not actively. Link building done well is its own specialty, and the agencies that do it ethically focus on it exclusively. We do help with internal linking, citation consistency, and the foundational on-page work that earns links naturally over time — but we don't do active outreach, guest posting, or directory submissions.

For e-commerce clients, yes — Google Merchant Center feeds, Performance Max campaigns, Shopping ads, and Search ads are part of what we offer (MacDonald Industrial Supply is a good example). For non-e-commerce clients, we'll set up basic Search and Performance Max campaigns but won't manage them ongoing at retainer scale. For active ongoing Google Ads management, specialist agencies are usually a better fit.

No, and we'd be skeptical of anyone who does. Search ranking is influenced by hundreds of factors, many outside any agency's control. What we promise: SEO foundations that follow current best practices, structured data that meets modern standards, and performance that meets Core Web Vitals thresholds. Rankings tend to follow.
