SDRO rescues senior dogs who are homeless or in unhealthy or unsustainable homes so they may spend the remainder of their lives in a positive, loving home. Established in 1997 by Susan Faria, Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon is a beacon of hope for senior dogs. Susan was the sole SDRO volunteer until 2001, when two additional volunteers joined to share the workload. In 2003, SDRO gained nonprofit status and continued to add volunteers, rescue more dogs, and receive more financial support through grants and donations.

The Solution

Website Design

For Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon, we created a warm, story-driven website that puts senior dogs front and center. Full-width hero photos, colorful and whimsical palettes, and thoughtful accents draw visitors into the flow of exploring available dogs and taking the next step towards adoption. Behind the scenes, the site hooks directly into the rescue’s volunteer-management platform and syncs with their donor database to keep giving records and recurring gifts perfectly aligned. Built on Squarespace with a lightweight, drag-and-drop page builder, the site lets non-tech volunteers add new content, swap banners, or post updates in minutes without touching code. The result is an engaging, easy-to-run digital home that speeds adoptions, streamlines volunteers and donor management, and fuels the lifelong care these senior dogs deserve.

Logo Design and Branding

The SDRO logo pairs an unmistakable dog-bone silhouette with cheerful, high-contrast colors to convey warmth, care, and optimism. The bone—outlined in a friendly navy stroke and filled with vibrant orange—houses two simple icons: a bright red heart symbolizing love, and a tiny blue-roofed house representing the forever homes the rescue secures for senior dogs. To the right, the acronym SDRO appears in a bold, rounded sans-serif wordmark, each letter set in its own playful hue. Below, the full name “Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon” anchors the mark in a clean navy typeface for clarity and trust. Together, the approachable shapes and joyful palette communicate SDRO’s mission: to rescue senior dogs who are homeless or in unhealthy or unsustainable homes so they may spend the remainder of their lives in a positive, loving home.
