The Corvallis Advocate
Managed WordPress hosting, maintenance, and development for Corvallis's daily online newspaper.
The Corvallis Advocate is a daily newspaper serving Corvallis, Oregon. They cover local government, business, and the arts, along with long-form investigative work. Their CitySpeak town halls have brought area leaders and experts together with the public, and they host candidate debates. They seek to serve the whole community, from voices not often heard to its most prominent. The Advocate is led by an Editorial Board, and their readers help support the paper. As they put it, “Our primary purpose is to advocate for our shared community.”
Website Hosting & Maintenance
For several years, we’ve looked after The Corvallis Advocate’s website. When they came to us, they were having issues with their site, and we’ve since moved it to our Oregon web hosting, where we keep it secure, up to date, and quick to load for their readers. Before any day they expect heavy traffic, we plan their hosting around it. When something needs attention, we handle it, and when they need something new, we build it, like the change that keeps their subscribers signed in for 30 days at a time. Because we take care of all of it, their editors and journalists can spend their time on the local reporting they do so well.
04 — Praise From the Client
We’re a busy news outlet, and honestly, we do not want to think about our website — working with Abide Web Design has meant we don’t have to. When we started working with Abide, we were having issues, and now… well, we just don’t. They make our work lives easier.
